Self Acceptance

Image
I am my own worse critic. When I look at others I withhold judgment, accepting them as they are, but I do not offer myself that same acceptance. Sadly, this is a result of feeling left out and unacceptable by those around me. I have, like most people, found it so much easier to see the negatives about myself and then focus only on those.   Through much work and lots of prayer I have learned to be more accepting of myself, flaws and all. This process has brought me growth and a discovery that often what I viewed as a flaw has actually served to make me very unique and more open to possibilities within my life as well as open to others.  Self acceptance doesn't come easy, but with hard work it's absolutely possible. More importantly, once it is achieved the results are worth all the hard work!

The Rabbit Hole

Image
Have you ever considered how many times you go down a rabbit hole?  We all have multiple rabbit holes that draw our attention, financial, death, divorce, addiction, fear, anxiety, health, etc. the list goes on and on.  Sometimes we get so deep in a rabbit hole we can not see a way, but I promise you there is always a way out.  It may not be easy and it may be messy, but you can get out.   I have personally found myself deep in many rabbit holes over the years, some I have no clue how I got into, but all at once there I was.  One such rabbit hole was an emotional one that resulted from the death of a loved one.  It started me on a downhill spiral that I wasn't sure how I was going to get out of.  I have learned to lean on God for everything, He is my constant and I know He will always provide.  I rejoiced that my loved one was in heaven singing praises and in the presence of God, but I was broken and wanted him here, I had no idea how I was go...

Moving Forward

Image
I was married for 10 years and believed it would last forever, after all it was supposed to last forever.  Instead it ended and my world came crashing down around me.  I lost my husband, the man I believed was my best friend, I lost my home, and I lost everything that I believed my life was supposed to be.  I packed my belongs and moved back to be near my family, I needed them and their support to heal.  I learned that a divorce was like a death, all that I had was completely gone, I had to mourn that loss and learn to live again but living would be so different.  It was a long process and I would often find myself looking back, thinking about what was supposed to be instead of seeing what was.   Slowly, very slowly, I start to build a life that was just mine.  I started doing things that I wouldn't have even considered doing when I was married.  I found my way, including jobs that allowed me to help others instead of focusing on myself all the ti...

You are ENOUGH!

Image
Have you found yourself in situations where you did not feel enough?  Where you felt like you weren't even comfortable in your own skin?  I have been there!   For years I felt unwanted and like no matter what I did I was never enough.  Due to those feelings of inadequacy I often made bad decisions in my life or do whatever I could just to feel accepted and to feel like I was enough.  I have learned over the years of bad decisions and mistakes that the first step was learning to be happy in my own skin and to love myself, which meant forgiving myself for all those bad decisions.   Today I love the woman I am and more importantly I know God made me enough.  In no way am I perfect, but I am imperfectly happy.  Yes, I still make bad decisions, but I take responsibility for each decision I make and I strive to do better each day.  As a certified life coach I want to help people feel comfortable in their own skin.  No matter what you've done i...

Acceptance

Image
Do you find yourself struggling with being accepted or with accepting someone who is different than you are?  Consider for a moment Winnie the Pooh and all his friends.  Each of them in their own unique way represent a disorder, and yet they all find a way to get along and accept without trying to change each other.   Winnie the Pooh is impulsive and appears to have an eating disorder, and yet no one tells him to go on a diet.  Piglet is always anxious, and surrounded by friends who encourage and support.   Eeyore is depressed but never is there a moment that his friends do not want him around and truly accept him exactly as he is.  Rabbit is OCD, everything in its place. Tigger has ADHD and bounces, "as tiggers do" , from one thing to another.   Growing up Winnie the Pooh was my favorite cartoon and truth be told I think he still is.  I always felt so happy knowing that somewhere, even if it was only in The Hundred Acre Woods, everyone ...
