Failure

Image
Have you ever tried and failed at something?  What did you do when you failed?  Did you give up and walk away or did you try again?  If you were learning to ride a bike I bet you got up and got back on to try again.  So if you got back on the bike and tried again did you actually fail or did you stumble and fall?   I've encountered multiple scenarios where I attempted something and when it didn't work out I felt like I was a total failure.  That feeling alone can make you feel worthless and less than, but when you change the way you look at it and see your failure instead as a misstep or fall or stumble then it becomes something to pick yourself up and dust yourself off from and try once again.   I have two divorces, both of which left me with feelings of failure.  Thoughts like: "what's wrong with me", "I must be the worse wife in the world", or my favorite "I'm completely worthless and unlovable" to name a few.  It took time to re...

Personal Growth

Do you ever look back over your life and wonder at where you've been, what you've gone through, and where you are today?  Did you loose yourself or find yourself?   Recently I was in a situation that left me asking myself these questions and analyzing my own journey.  Is the person I once was completely going, as in destroyed?  Am I now unrecognizable to those who knew me before?  It made me sad to think that a part of me was destroyed to become the woman I am today.  My questions to myself and then the answers I discovered revealed a great deal. I started this world knowing nothing, learning and growing.  Accepting the lessons I was taught and as I grew up I had dreams and hopes even plans for what I believed my future would be.  (I look around and I am nothing of what the girl I once was envisioned for my future)  Yet, that girl is still with me.  If she wasn't I wouldn't still continue to dream and work so diligently to ma...

Connecting with God

Image
Do you feel connected to God?  How do you connect with God?  When people are struggling  it is most common that is when they draw closer to God.  Is that you, seeking Him out when you are struggling? I was raised knowing about God and attending church regularly.  However, that doesn't mean I was connecting with Him back then.  Over the years I have had moments where I knew God was blessing and absolutely there, but never truly comprehended what that meant or how I felt.  As I became older I became more aware and like many would seek Him in those moments of severe trouble when everything else had failed.   As I went through the trials the last few years of my marriage I found myself drawing closer to Him seeking His guidance and counsel.  Things came together in such a way over those years that I know only God could have been supporting me.  Yet, even in those moments I was unable, or maybe I simply didn't want, to recogn...

Real and Authentic

Do you ever feel like if you aren't perfect people won't like you?  Do you find yourself trying to conform into whatever version you believe others want or expect you to be? This was me for so long.  It was as if I didn't have my own identity or even have a right to be a unique individual.  I was always, someone's daughter or granddaughter or I was someone's sister and then I was someone's wife.  After my divorce I very quickly found myself thrown back into that state of simply being someone's daughter again.  Please don't misunderstand, I am very proud and honored to say I'm my parents daughter.  I love my parents dearly and I strive to make them proud of the woman I am, but now when I say I'm their daughter I do so with a clear understanding of myself and I own my own identity and no longer feel overshadowed by being a part of someone else. I've encountered people who are different depending on those around them or if they are w...
