What's broken can be mended

Image
Have you ever found yourself feeling like you will never be whole again, as if what has happened in your life or what you have lost has left you broken and shattered?  We have ALL been there.  It takes time and sometimes it takes the added support and encouragement of others but, I assure you, what is broken can be fixed,.   The trick is to understand that even fixed, you won't be the same as before.  You are a new person, the person before your situation occurred is gone and in it's place is a stronger person, one who has faced adversities and overcome.  The person who remains is new and now you must get to know this new person.

Walking a tightrope

Image
How do you feel about walking a tightrope?  Do you find yourself having days or weeks or even longer where you feel like you are balanced on a very thin line or tightrope, one miss step and everything will come crashing in around you?  You're not alone, this a so common for most of us, but yet we feel like we are the only ones who are balanced on a tightrope. The tightrope we walk often feels like we are balanced precariously with nothing under us to catch us when we fall.  All around us are issues we feel we are facing and coping with alone, those issues can be anything from emotional to financial, from personal to public persona, from family to career, and absolutely anything in between. You are not alone!  Everyone of us have struggles and we need support we can trust.  When you start to fall, reach out a hand and ask for help.

Kindness

What is kindness?  It can come in so many different ways and often it's a very small effort that to the one giving it seems nearly inconsequential and yet to the one receiving it, that small act, can make all the difference in their lives.  I've heard stories of people feeling lost and wanting to end their lives, but because someone smiled at them or said a kind word they changed their minds and chose to live.  I had a job as a traumatic brain injury specialist, during that job I worked with an individual who suffered greatly from anxiety, especially in certain situations.  Working with her I could see her anxiety start to build and she perceived that she was fighting obstacles all alone.  All it took was for me to reach my hand out and place it gently on her arm and she would immediately calm and her breathing would be more steady.  That was nothing to me, yet to her it meant she wasn't alone and someone was on her side. Start by greeting people wit...

October - Reflections

Image
As I find myself starting a brand new month I take a moment to consider many things, am I where I want to be, did I accomplish all I wanted last month, where do I want to be by the end of this month, and most importantly did I honor God. It's a perfect time to start planning my next goals. The beauty of this process though isn't to ridicule myself on what I didn't accomplish, but rather to regroup and refocus, make adjustments and move forward.  Where are you in your own personal journey? Are you finding a rhythm that works for you? If you're stuck or feeling lost reach out, ask for help. We're all trying to find our own way. You don't have to do it alone
