Spring into Self-Care

As we move from winter into spring I find myself feeling refreshed. I am ready to embrace the new and start to bloom.

There are many ways to refresh ourselves and become revitalized when moving from winter into spring, but one that I find most beneficial for myself is to take steps towards renewing my self-care.  Finding those activities that I can put into place that will lift me up.  We are often so busy taking care of everyone and everything else we often forget about taking care of ourselves.  This is especially true for women, we are after all most often the nurturer and caregiver, we have family, friends, and jobs that depend on us.  This can leave us drained and exhausted.  Giving yourself the freedom to take time (just 15 minutes a day) for ourselves can then improve what we have to give to others.

Even as spring is officially here often times winter still shows up and brings about moments of cold and often times depression.  So taking time to spring clean our minds, bodies, and lives are just as important and vital as spring cleaning our homes.

I often start by making a list of goals I want to accomplish before summer is here, and then I add simple rewards for accomplishing those goals.  Nothing elaborate or expensive just simple and something that will bring me pleasure.  For instance: a bubble bath, a walk in nature, indulging in a few hours  spent reading a favorite book, the list of possibilities is endless.

Do you participate in self-care?  I highly recommend you take the new season as an opportunity to explore that aspect.  Give yourself just 15 minutes a day that is just for you, it'll improve nearly all if not all aspects of your life.
